Zekai Liu
Born in Shandong in 2001
Studying the keyboard at age five and the guitar at twelve, accompanying his development as he grew. He started his musical exploration in ninth grade by forming his first band—BLACK.
In high school, he led BLACK to participate in many performances, including Chen Livehouse, 798 ArtDist, The Royal Canal Rowing Competition (Beijing) and won awards. He also serve as the music director of the school's Music festival through his own music techniques and artistic aesthetics when he was in high school, and directed the Mid-autumn Arts Festival.
He studied Media Study and Movie as a major and Music as a Virtual Minor in the State University of New York at Buffalo. This helped him to understand the visual understanding and depth of music, the wide use of music in film and other media to stimulate creativity, good at integrating various art forms, and participating in the creation of music.

Formed the band 2061 with Teddy Zhou and Ming Ren in the Spring 2021.

Afterwards, he began to independently create music, mainly including film score and songs.
About Film Score:
He had a better understanding of the themes and emotions conveyed in the film due to his college education. His cultural and historical knowledge can lead to more inspiration and creativity, allowing the soundtrack to better support the actors' performances and plot progression. The episode soundtrack of Hacksaw Ridge he produced fits each scene according to the visuals and the character's emotions, from the tranquility and melancholy before the war to the perseverance of climbing the mountain and the ferocity of the war.
Creative Process:
He utilized the Japanese koto and flute in the scene where the Japanese army raised the white flag to convey the eerily calm tension of the ceasefire. I used the guitar music I played as an emotional theme. After many alterations, I selected a version with fewer notes to emphasize the intensity of the war and lament the brutal casualties that resulted.

Creative Process:

Fate of the Empress
Specific Role: Producer and Composer Conceptual Approach: The inspiration of this work comes from the CG of a Chinese ancient style game "Fate of the Empress". The video mainly describes the birth of Empress in ancient China, which uses children to symbolize vitality and the hope of a new generation. Technologies Used: Using Logic Pro as a Daw Additional Information: I used a lot of Chinese national instruments when composing music, such as pipa, guqin, Chinese dizi. The rhythm and melody in the latter part of the work are more active and playful, highlighting the innocence and happiness of childhood. Through the use of these instruments, I hope to spread Chinese culture to the world.
Personal Songs
Conceptual Approach: One night, I looked up at the sky and was inspired by the rare stars that were different from those of my youth, so I created “Star Said”. In terms of lyrics, I observe the changes of modern society and people from the perspective of stars as the audience. I also expressed my feelings on some international and social issues. Technologies Used: Using Logic Pro as a Daw Additional Information:In the arrangement, I added a lot of electric guitar elements on the basis of pop music and a neoclassical style as interlude to enrich the texture of the song. Through the use of various music genres of combination, can be a good expression of my progressive and changing feelings.
